PROLIFIC EWES .
Daring the late, lambing seaßon in the old country not a few of the ewes have been very prolific. In one case recorded as haying occurred Banffshire, a ewe belonging to Mr Gray dropped four lambs, last year having dropped the same number. Then, near Thirsk, Mr Wells had .two shearling gimmers which between them dropped sine lambs. A Kent ewe, however, belonging to Mr Oornwallis, M.P., was even more prolific, she having given birth to bi'x lambi) four of which were born alive. But here iB a report of a ewe that is supposed to have beaten the record, in bringing forth six live lambs : JL«-{)n Friday last a three-year-old crossbred ewe (Leicester and blaokf aced crow), the property of Mr Eodger, of AuchUhanzie, on .the estate of Quitoquhey, gave birth, to six lambs, two males and four females, the mother and her phenomenally large family all doing well. The lambs are of fair -size cpnsidering the circumstances, and are all perfectly healthy; five of .them, are being. reared by the mother, but the ■ixtb, being 7 disowned by her,is being, brought up by hand."
