MELBOURNE WOOL SALES.
October 31. At the fourth series of wool auctions today bidding was animated and competition brisk. There was a large attendance of buyers. Tbe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency catalogued 5330 bales, of which number 4762 were sold. The following are the best rates realised s — Greasy merino, ls l_t i ; greasy combing, ls 2d; greasy crossbreds, ls l£d j greasy lambs, Is l_d ; greasy pieces, lljlj scoured merino, ls 8J ; scoured pieoes, ls 6J.1.
