It is stated that by the adoption, of. a reoently invented system of purifying sewage by meanß of ammonia the whole of the sewage of London could be purified and made innocuous for £125,000 a year, which sum would be covered by a rate of less than Id in the &' tfhia does not make allowance for the value of the reßultant pro* duct as manure, which possibly would be so muoh as to render a rate unnecessary.
