HORSE MARKET.
Wright, Stepheasou, aud Co. report aa follows : — Eighty-niue horses came forward for last Saturday's aale, including about a score of first-class draught mares and geldings from well-known breeders. For these there was good competition at prices ranging from £24 to £50. We again experienced great
difficulty in quitting any of the light draught and small light harness horses, of which the rest of the supply was almost entirely made up. Privately, for shipment to Australia, we have sold 40 first-class draught mares and geldings at quotations. We do not, however, anticipate, for some time at all events, that the demand will be so brisk as it has been of late, owing to the principal buyers' requirements being now supplied. By the Waihora, sailing to-morrow, about 50 horses are being shipped to Victoria. We quote first-class draughts at from £27 to £33 ; medium, £18 to £22 ; light, £12 to £15 ; good strong carriage and light harness horses, £16 to £22; medium, £10 to £12; light and inferior, £2 to £6.
