DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET.

Wheat. — A keen demand continues to exist, aad last week's quotations remain firm. All lots offered are quickly taken up irrespective of quality. The quantity coming forward is very small, and as the limited stocks in ageuts' hands are firmly held for an advance, the business passing is only slight. The present tone of the market is exceedingly firm, and as holders all along the coast northwards are firm in their demands, prices here for some time to come are more likely to further advance than to recede. Quotations : Prime milling Tuscan, 4s 61 to 43 7d ; do white velvet, 43 5d to 43 6J ; prime hard red straw, which has the most demand at present owing to short supplies, commands 4s 41 to 4s 6d ; medium quality, 43 to 4j 3d ; inferior and fowls' wheat is also in good request at 2s 91 to 33 lid (ex store, bags weighed in). Oats. — Milling samples are in good demand for local requirements ; feed has also been in fair request by shippers, but as prices asked seem to be beyond their limits thera have been fewer transactions during the week. Stocks are not, however, by any means heavy ; and so long as holders continue firm there is no reason why present prices should not be maintained. Quotations : Bright stout milling oats, 2s 51 to 2a 6d ; medium, 2j 41 to 2a 51 ; best bright short feed, 2a 2d to 2s 3d ; medium, 2i to 2s Id ; inferior and discoloured, Is 91 to 13 lid ; long tartars, fit for seed, are held for 2s 9d to 2j lOd (ex store, bags weighed in). Barley. — This market continues inactive, and the operations of the week would not total a considerable amount. Small parcels of malting have been placed during the week at from 2s 9d to 3a ; milling and medium, at 2a 41 to 2s Sd, and feed at 2a to 2* 31 (ex store, bags weighed in). Grass Seed. — At the prese it time there is no inquiry, and nothing passing in these lines. Quotations nominal. Potatoes. — Market quiet. Value, .£3 to £3 5s per ton. The following additions to ex store prices will give the equivalent for f .o.b. : — Whea^ at Port Chalmers, 21 per bnshel : do, Dunedin, Id do.
