A SONG.
Look heavenward, be hopeful, toil on to tha last, Tho' lowly on earth be thy lot, Still brave with a stout heart adversity's blast — The battle of life must be fought. And tho' there bo times when thy spirits may sink, At times there are sun-gleams to cheer; The world's not ao diamal and dreary, I think, Aa some people would make it appear. The dark clouds may keep back the sun's golden rays, The north winds may bitterly blow, The gong birds awhile may restrain their sweet lays, And fair flowers lie dead 'neath the snow. But balmy-breathed summer will come before long, And dark clouds will soon disappear ; The fair flowers will bloom and the mavis' sweet song Will ring through the glen loud and clear. John Macaulay.
