BRUCE LAWN TENNIS CLUB.

A meeting of the Bruce Lawn Tenuia Club was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening. The President, Mr J. A. Duthie, in the chair. The seoretary, Mr M'Elrea, stated that a few weeks ago the Committee came to the conclusion that the grounds at present used were in an unsuitable condition, and tbat steps Bhould be taken to have an asphalt court for winter use. They asked Mr Coombe upon what terms he would make the desired alterations and improvements, and he said £20 a year, and the Club to keep the ground in order. They saw Mr Bastings on the same subject, and he expressed himself as willing to provide an asphalt court, and single and double grass court, and keep the game in order for £20 a year. Since then Mr Coombe had sent a memo, stating that he would make a full asphalt court and top dress and put the old oourt in good order for £15. Mr Bastings also sent a written offer to provide two grass courts and one asphalt, and erect a house for the use of the members, and also provide a handball court, if leased for five years, at £20 a year.

It was proposed and seconded, " That Mr Coombe's offer be accepted." An amendment waa proposed and seconded, "That Mr Bastingß' offer be accepted." The amendment was carried by 6 to 4. The meeting then adjourned.
