INTERPROVINCIAL.

Wellington, May 31. At the meeting of the Otago members (twenty-three present, the Premier being the only one absent) a resolution was carried that the Otago Central line must be pushed on to a payable point, namely, at least as far as Taieri Lake. Another resolution was carried that no new lines should be constructed until the Otago Central is carried to a payable point. Invercarqili., May 31. The recent rains have been followed by the most disastrous floods that have occurred for many years. There^ have been several breaks on the Invercargill, Kingston, Nightcaps, Waimea Plains, and Dunedin lines. In one case the break is a mile long, and will

c take some time to repair. The loss of a property must be great, but as yet no s particulars are to band. It is still raining a here.
