THE LATE CONCERT.

To the Editor. Sir, —As I was chiefly responsible for fche business management of the late entertainment, I take the liberty of writing a few lines in answer to your correspondent "Observer," as to his statement that there were no seats reserved for those persons who took part in one portion of the entertainment only. lam exceedingly sorry if any of those, especially ladies, who so kindly gave their assistance in making the concert a success, were unable to find seats during the time they were not engaged in the concert. All I can say is that I gave instructions for the two front seats to be reserved for the performers, but in such a crush as there was on Friday evening last I do not think it at all surprising that one of the seats should have been given to those who otherwise would have had to stand during the whole of the entertainment. Had " Observer " only mentioned at the time to any of those engaged in taking tickets, &c. in the hall that there were any ladies or gentlemen who had taken part in the entertainment, and who could not find seats, I am sure that the necessary accommodation could easily have been found. This is the second entertainment I have managed, and " Observer's " complaint is the first I have heard. Upon the other occasion seats were reserved, and it was not my fault that they were not this time as I gave instructions that they should be. Had I been at liberty during the entertainment I feel sure that "Observer" would have found no ground for complaint as I could easily have found seats for the several persons referred to by him.:—l am, &c, D. Poppelwell.
