CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.
Keport for the week ending Friday evening, the 23rd inst. : — The local market for grain and produce continues in the same dull state, while intercolonial orders are few and far between, and no marked improvement can be expected for some weeks. A few samples of new oata have been shown this week, but without eliciting offers, buyers being shy of quoting. The probable opening prica is not expected to reach over 2s per bushel. Recent shipments of prime butter have had the effect of hardening prices, and Id more may be fairly quoted. Quotations to date are as follow : — Wheat. — Tuscan, nominal value, 3s ; Hunter'o and pearl, 3s 2d t» 33 4d (f .0.b.) ; chiok feed, Is 6d to 2a. Oats.— Bright short feed (old), 2s 4d ; new, undecided (f.0.b.) Barley. — Malting 3a 6d to 4s ; feed, 2s to i 2s 3d (Christchurch). Butter and Cheese. — 7d to 7§d for the former ; the latter 4d to 4|d (f.0.b.)
