Prince, the sire of Lord Chelmaf-rd, is a dark bay, 16* hands high, got by Prince Charlie, imported ; dam Princess Maud the First, champion mare of the Colony, the winner of 18 First Prizes in Scotland and several in Victoria. Prince has gained many hrst Prizes, and his stock cannot be surpassed. The Kyueton Agricultural Society awarded him Firat Priz* for the best four yearlings against the stock of two .mportcd »»rses. He gained the First Prize at the Palmeraton and Waikouaiti Shows in 1872 and 1873. Mrs Nimmo sold a yearling filly by Prince for £300, Mr bong, of Chrietchurcn, beiug the purchaser. Princess Maude the First, grai.d-dam of Lord CL.elmsford, gamed eighteen First Prizes in Scotland, iucludiug the Silver Medal at Glasgow, when a three-year-old, for all ages. In the same year ahe gained the First Prize at the Highland Agnculnral Society at Inverness. She was aU> awarded first honors two years in succession at Dumbarton.
