DUNEDIN STOCK REPORT.

Following ia report of business done at Burnside on Wednesday : — Fat Cattle. —lso yarded, mostly fair to good quality, a few prime. Competition was fairly active, and prices a shade higher than those of last week. Best bullocks, £8 10s to £10 178 6d ; others £5 to .£8 ; cows, £3 10a to £8 ss. Beef is quoted at from 20s to 22a 6d per 1001 b. Fat Calves, —Eight penned, and sold at 13a to 25s each. Fat Sheep.—2oß9 penned, of which 1766 were crossbred and 323 merinos, nearly all useful quality. Competition was brisk at the commencement of the sales, and last week's prices were well maintained, but towards the close biddings were languid, and a slight reduction had to be submitted to. A few pens were turned out unsold. Best crossbreds brought 15a to 17a 3d; others, lOj 9d to 14s 9i j merinos, 5s to 11s. Prime mutton quoted from 2d to 2Jd per lb. Fat Lambs. —Market glutted, 1040 having been penned —a considerable proportion small, with a few prime. For the latter there was good competition at nearly last week's prices j but on others a reduction of at least Is per head had to be sumbitted to, and but for graziers purchasing number? would have been turned out unsold. Best pens brought 8s 9d to 0a 9d, a few prime to 11s 6d ; others, 6s to 8s 6d. Pigs. —l7o penned, consisting of bacon pigs, porkers, suckers, and stores. —Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold 96 as follows : 1 heavy bacon pig at 80s; 21 bacon pigs at 46s 6d to 62s 6d ;15 porkers at 26s to 38s; 59 stores at 103 to 23s. —Donald Reid and Co. sold 12 at up to 61s. —L. Maclean sold 11 at 40a to 535, 3 at 31s, 9 at 19a to 24a, and 6 at 24a. —The Colonial Co-operative Agricultural and Agency Company sold drafts at, for bacon pigs, £2 7s to £2 11s, Store Cattle. —Fair demand for quiet, well-grown bullocks, also for young cattle. Sheepskins. —Moderate catalogues were offered on Monday last. Competition was fairly active, and prices equal to quotations of previous week, except for green pelts and lambakins, which were slightly easier. Crossbreds, low to medium, brought Is 7d to 4s; full-wool, 4s 3d to 6a ; merino, low to medium, Is 9d to 3s 9d; full-wool, 4s to 5s 3d; dry pelts, 4d to Is ; green do, 6d to Is 4d ; lambskins, 8d to Is 3d. Hides. —Market steady, with no material alteration in values. Butchers' green hides fetch 16s to 21s for ox, and 12s to 18s for cow. Tallow —Prices continue stationary. Prime is worth £26 to i'2B 10a ; medium, i! 22 to £25 ; inferior, £18 to £21 103.
