WAIHOLA.

The annual meeting was held on Wednesday. Present— Messrs M'Kay (Chairman), Agnew, StraiD, Cragie, Hilgendorf, and Robertson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Eobertson proposed, and Mr Hilgendorf, seconded, " That Mr J. M'Kay be reelected Chairman." Mr Strain proposed, and Mr Agnew seconded, " That Mr Robertson be elected." Mr Craigie proposed, and Mr M'Kay seconded, " That Mr Hilgendorf be appointed Chairman." The Chairman gave his casting vote in favor of Mr Hilgendorf, on the ground that he had been a hard working member for the past year, and also th%t the office should be a rolling one. On taking the chair, Mr Hilgendorf brought forward the question whether members who had not paid their rates on or before March 30 were legally sitting. After a lengthy debate, it was unanimously agreed their position was legal. Mr M'Kay was elected Treasurer for the ensuing year. It was proposed by Mr M'Kay, seconded by Mr Robertson, and carried, " That the rate of 9d in the £ for the year 1881-2 be confirmed, to be payable in one sum on September Bth.

Mr A. Paterson waited on the Board, and requested that the street from the railway to the jetty might be formed. It was decided to expend a sum not exceeding £2 on the work. A circular from the Colonial Secretary, containing instructions with reference to surveyors, was received. The Waihola Works Committee reported having passed Mr A. Steel's contract in Chatham-street, and had paid him the balance due £45, and £5 deposit returned. The following resolution passed at the meeting of the Board on July 12th having been omitted from the minutes, it was decided to insert it in the minutes of this meeting : -"That the following be inserted in the Brttcb Herald : That all rates due to the Waihola Road Board not paid on or before August 10th, will be Bued for." The Clerk was instructed to sue all defaulters for arrears of rates. The following accounts were passed for payment : —
