•■■ -i •:.'♦•■ . — : ■••■'• : V USEFUL HOUSEHOLD HINTS Potato Crtjst for Meat Pies.— One tea cupful of ci-eam to six good-sized potatoes boiled and mashod fine, add salt and flour enough to roll ; handle as little as possible. Cold Water Cake. — Three and a half cups of flour, two of raisins, chopped fine ; two of sugar, a cup of butter, a cup ol cold water, thb yolks of six eggs, well beaten ; half a teaspoonful each of cloves, cinnamon, soda, and a little nutmeg. Potato Cakes.— Roast some potatoes in the oven j when done, skin and pound in a mortar with a small piece of butter warmed in a little milk ; chop a shalot' and a little parseley very finely ; mix well with potatoes ; add pepper and salt * _hape into, cakes ;Jegg Jand breadcrumb them, and fry a light brown. Queen Pudding.— Soak a pint of breadcrumbs in boiling milk, add the yolks of four eggs well beaten to a stiff froth, with four teaspoonfuls of white sucar ; put in the oven and bake a very light, brown. Elavour with essence of vanilla or lemon.
