AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS.
The Superintendent Collector (Mt Carew, has placed at the disposal of the
Tuakeka 'Times' the following account of land in cultivation, and of the agricultural produce thereof, for the year ending February, 1879, of the luapeka, Bruce, and CJlutha Counties : — TUAPEKA. COUtfTY. Number of holdings— Freehold, 185; rented, 147 ; part rented, part freehold, 94. Extent of land broken up but not under crop. 3,176 acres. In wheat— Sown for grain only. 3,667 acres; estimated gross produce 123,510 bushels. In oats for green food or h.-.y, 567 acres } for grain, 7,259 acres ; estimated gross produce ot grain, 289,359 bushels. In barley — Sown for grain only, 265 acres ; estimated gross produce, 7,017 bushels. In sown grasses — In hay, 680 acres ; estim-ated^gro-s produce, 715 tons. In grasses after having been broken up (Including such as in hay), 9,576 acres ; grass sown on lands no!, previously ploughed (including such as in hay) 2,266 acres. In potatoes, 411 ; estimated gross produce, 5,135 tons. In other crops, 5,816 acres. Total number of f»cres under crop (including sown grasses), 30,807. Quantity of last years crop remaining on hand when form was filled up— wheat, 17,868 bushels; oats, 14,346 bushels ; barley, 80 bushels. BItTTCE COUNTY. Numbers of holdings — Freehold, 318 ; rented, 72 ; part rent, part freehold, 53. Extent of land broken up, and not under crop, 7,460 acres. In wheat — Sown for grain only, 6,002 acres ; t stimated gross produce, 178,170 bushels. In oat— For green food or hay, 546 acres ; for grain, 13,270 acres ; estimated gross produce of grain, 469,068 bushels. In barley— Sown for grain only, 319 acres ; estimated gross produce, 10,977 bushels. In sown grasses — In hay, 897 acres ; estimated gross produce, 1,292 tons. Tn'grasses, after having been broken up (including such as hay) 38,385 acres. Grass sown on land not previously ploughed (including such as in hay), 916S acres. In potatoes, 350 acres; estimated gross produce, 1,901 tons. In other crops, 8,341 acres. Total number of acres under crop (including sown grasses), 72,278. Quantity -of last year's crop remaining on band when form was filled vl j — Wheat, 46,207 bushels ; oats, 5,396 bushels ; bailey, 24 bushels. CLUTHA COUNTY. Numbers of Lt ldings— Freehold, 308 ; rented, 95 ; part rented, part freehold, 17. Exttut of land broken up but not under crop, 7,331 acres. Quantity of last year's crop remaining on hand when form was filled up— Wheat, 13,800 bushels ; oate, 17/742 bushels.
