KNAPDALE ROAD BOARD.

An adjourned meeting of the above board, was held in their room. M-ickay's Hall, East Gore, on Saturday, the 25 r h mM;. Present — M^esrs Diweon (Cuairman.) McQueen, Me Bain, Fleming. Wadilell, and Dntds. Tae minutes of the previous meeting were read and cot. firmed. The County clerk wrote, enclosing resolution of the Council, voting Bubsidyof £, for £, to the exre t of £250, for road east of Knap lale. A Ittter was read from the Under Secretary, Crown Lands Dept, Wellington, intimating that the Government had decided to allow the Kfiapdale Koa I Board, tbe sum of one thousand four hundred and fif f-y pounds (£1450), out of the £10,000, voted by the Legislature last session, on account of r ads in deferred payment blocks, disposed t f prior to Ist January, 1878, and tbot a voucher for the amount be forwarded immeriiately. The expenditure will be ltft entirely with the Road Boaid. The only coud>etien, being that the buntdin Land Board, approves of the lines r-f road, upon which it is proposed to expend the money, as being beneficial to the deferred payment sections. It being desirable that the work should be immediately put in hand so as to take advantage of the favorable season of the year for road making. Mr Dodds moved and Mr Moßain seconded that the Ch virman, and McQueen be appointed to arrange with some party, to put in the box<s in contract No. 8, according to plans already to hand. Carried. Mr Dodd's moved, and M r McQueen seconded. "That tne Kngineer be instructed, to pr^psre plans and specifications for cutting on the hill, opposite section 14, block XI, Chatton, opposite Mr Gerken's. Tae estimate not to exceed £60. Carried. Mr Mcßain moved, and Mr Dodd's seconded. "That tender/3 be called for the erection of a bridge across the Otama Creek, opposite sections | 6 and 7, block 11, Otama, also a email box j culvert on the same road, opposite sections 4, and 9 " Carried. Moved by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr McQieen, and carrier!. "That the specificat ons for contia^t No 13, be referred back to the Engineer, to reduce tbe cost by reducing the j formation. The cost not to exceed £80 " I Moved by Mr Dodd's seconded by Mr Mcßain i "That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specification?, for formation aad gravelling on the Knapd^le road, corner of section 15, block 1, Waikaka, to the county ! road. "That the Engineer be . instructed to . prepare plans and specifications for ; a bridge 1 over the W likaka, at Howe's or Chittock's crossings on the Pukerau road." Several accounts were passed for payment. Moved by Mr Waddell, seconded by Mr Fleming. " That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for culverts on east; side of Waikaka River. Commencing at section 8, block, 11, terminating, at Dickie'sroad. ' Estimate not to exceed; £50. Carried. - Moved by Mr McQueen, seconded by Mr Fleming, aud carried- "That the chairman take the necessary steps to secure the money voted to the Board by the General Government." Mr Mcßain presented a petition from Otama, Chatton, and Waikaka settler*, re repairs on the Clinton-Pyramids road. The petition he requested should be forwarded to Mr McGibbon, for presentation to the County Council.
