A powerful tribe of Mongols have assumed a threatening attitude. General Roberts consequently decided to return to Kurunui(?) to concentrate forces The Sirdars of Cabul have written to JMajor Caragnari in friendly terms. Later advices state .Afzul Kahn, commanding the Afghans • Kahda, has disbanded his army, and left the province. General Donald Stuart was within one day's march of Candahar on the Bth. On the 12th the Deputy-(" A ~»rnor of Candahar tendered complete submission to the British, and now await? the arrival of General Stuart and Biddulph forces to surrender the city. Candahar was formally entered on the 9th. January 13. General Donald Stuart and his forces marched through Candahar unopposed. (REUiER's Special to Press Agency.) January 11. It is semi- officially stated that the late Ameer is now in Turkestan, and that he will receive the sympathetic hospitality of Russia ; but the idea of Russian mediation on his behalf is iilusionary.
