The last division of profits took place in 1874, and the caßh surplus then divided amounted to L 235,000, giving additions to policies averaging L 3 per cent, per annum on the sum assured. The bonuses paid on policies becoming claims have varied from Lls per cent, on the sum assured for a policy of five years' standing to Ll5O per cent, for one of twenty- five years duration. Bonuses become vested additions to policies when they have been full five years in force.
