beneficial effect a match like that which bad «aken pl*ce during the day bad on those concerned. He proposed the health of Major Wales. The Chairman in replying, said there were many difficulties to contend w ith before getting a thoroughly successful organisation of Volunteers. The Government did not give a sufficient number of drill instructors, nor were there rifles enough to supply more than those Volunteers who had uniforms. In the event of aw at- breaking out, many citiiens and old Volunteers should be supplied f ' with arms, besides the regular companies. The toast of the " Host and Hostess " terminated the proceedings.
