The Budget speech shows the excess,, of revenue to be £860,000. Ordinary expenditure for the year, £81,000,000;; revenue, £79,000,000. The deficit is' to be met by two pence per £1 extra income tax, fourpence per lb. tobacco, and 1 dog tax raised to 7s 6d. : The revenue returns show an increase: of one million on the March quartet of' 1877.'
