MILTON. Tuesday, April 10, 1877. (Before Mr E. H. Carew, R.M.) T. HUG HAN V. JAS. YORSTON. This was an information laid by the Ranger against defendant for cutting timber on Crown lands without a license. Defendant stated he was only blaziDg tiees on a proposed line of road to enable him to form an estimate of the said road. Mr D. Reid, for the defendant, urged that, under the circumstances, ouly a very small penalty should be inflicted. His Worship fiucd defendant £3, informing him, at the same time, that he was liable to a 1 penalty of £50,

His Worship overruled the application for a nonsuit, and after a number ot witnesses i bad been examined for the defence, gave judgment for the plaintiff for £42 7s 6d as being a reasonable value tor the sleepers, aud , costs (£6 Is), stating that had a further amount been claimed as damages, plaiutiff would have beeu entitled to it. MACKAY AND WELLS V W. REID. Claim £2 ls, for newspaper subscription. Judgment for amount claimed, and costs. MACKAY AND WELLS V. M. MONTGOMERY. Claim £5 4s, advertisements and goods supplied. Judgmeut for amount claimed and costs. Leslie's trusters v. rodins. Judgmeut summons, £5 4s 2d. Ordered to pay 30s per month, or 14 days' imprisonment in default. GRINDLEY V. SURPLUS. Claim £2 16s 3d. Judgment, by agreement, for £1 16s and costs. GRINDLEY V. PEDLOW. Claim £3 18s Id. Judgment, by agreement, for £3 and costs. GRINDLEY V. AH HEE. Claim £7 18s 9d. Judgment for amount and costs. COWAN V. PKPERILL. Claim for 12s. Judgment confessed. GRINDLEY V. JOYCE. Claim £4 ls Id. Judgment for amount and costs, less £1 3s paid iuto Court.
