« Mb A. Mercer reports for the week ending August Sth, retail prices only : — Fresh butter iv * and lib prints, 2s *2d to 2s 4d ; powdered and salt butter, Is 8d to Is 9d. The supply of fresh butter is more plentiful than' it was, and prices are not likely to advance more. Salt butter in kegs is very plentiful, and can be got at any price. Cheese of the best quality, Is 2d ; side and rolled bacon, lid to Is per lb ; Colonial hams, Is 3d ; English hams, Is 6d to Is Sd. Eggs are still in good demand, and retailing at 2s 3d per dozen.
