A Curious Oiboumstance. ~ The jurymen sumitfoned to o-ive their attendance at the Auckland District Court, on Monday mdrning, the 25th lilt., consisted ! of twelve gentlemen, the whole of- whom answered to the name of Brown. One Brown was remitted from attendance, a s it w»s a day held sacred by the followers of his religious faun Another Brown claimed exemption upon jthe ground bhat he was ffeaf. Of the Browns there were four Joins, which caused some little difficulty, because each John was uncertain whether 'the was the particular John wa'nfed Tuen, |a°*ain, there were Browas who added the j"e" final to their names, and there were ißrowns who did nor, but, the pronunciation of the patronymic being the same, 'some little further difficulty was created. The twelve Browns, it wa« ascertained by a more particular insneafion of the jury lis-t, fallowed twelve different callings, no two being eng. g-ed in the same occupation'; and it was by their distinctive trades or professions, in connection with their i.aDtlitna! names, that the four Brow, s wan gA were at Wt obtained, and tht> remainiiTg"eight Brow rig were excused fr< m iurttier attendance.— Northern paper.
