The sixth anniversary of the above Court Was held in the Volun'eer liall> Milton, on Friday evening, yl4Mr instant) when the chair was occu tried by Brother Taylor, C.R. Over 50 brethren of the Court. and yisiting brethren from Havelock and Clutha sat down to a sumptuous tea) provided by Mr Goodall, and after ample justice had been donei the tables were cleared, when, after the " Foresters' Fire," a few suitable introductory remarks were;
offered by Bro. Tavlor, 0. R , wlio heartily welcomed the visiting brethren <■ present) and urged those who had not embraced the behefi r s offered by forestry, to join the Order.- ■■'"•■'■ •'■ -L. ,:.. ■
Bro. Wilson, P. C. .ft.,, also "welcomed the members from the sister courts, aud addressed the meeiiag in favor of forestry. Bro. Dickson^ Secretary, reatl the following most satisfactory statement or finance :--In making our our financial statement, T have dated it from the formation of the Society, so as to< give those present that are not members, an idea of the amount paid ; for medical attendance) medicine -and sick pay, because, I believe) there are a great many that do not know how the funds of the Society are expended) * or the amount of good that it does to those that are members. The total amount
received in contributions, initiations, &0., is LBO6 18s 2d ; paid for m-'dical attendance, medicine and sick pay, L350 13-s 8d ; incidental expenses in working of Court) L265 14s 3d, leaving a balance to the credit of the Society ot Ll9O 10s 8d j Court furniture, good-*, &c, LlB 6d • making the total wo th of Jourt, L2OB 16s Bd. The number of members initiated during that time is 112* admitted by clearance from other Courts, 6 ; present number of members good upon the books. 42. I think you will all see by the amount thai has teenpaid for medical attendance^ medieinp, and sick pay, that the foresters have done a considerable amount of good in Tokomairiro, so I hope you will all come ah4 join our Society. There are several delegates from other Courts here to-nigh r, who will explain the benefits to be derived from forestry.
The Chairman read a statement furnished by a member "of GouVt Rooin Hood, Port Chalmers, regarding the operations of that Court, showing a success similar to that of Courr Bruce^ . -
Several visiting brethren then addressed the meeting in appropriate term*, the proceedings having been enlivened throughout bysonus, given by brethren present, aided by the visiting brethren. Shortly before nine (-'clock, the, room was cleared to prepare for the most animating pait of the night's proceedings — h ■ Ball, which Was siill more largely attended. Dancing was kept up with much spirit until far on in themorning, the whole proceedings haying been conducted with that harmony and good feeling which characterises all the proceedings of the Court.
