Messrs Wright, Stepjienson, and Cj. report for the week ending 27th March ns follows : — Fat Cattle — 35 head, fair to good quality, were yarded, and most of them taken by the Meat Preserving Company. We quote prime quality, 203 per 1001 b ; middling do, 17s 6d. Pat Sheep — About 1500 inerino wethers of good quality came to hand, and fetched 7s 61 each, equal to lfd per ]b. We sold privately, 800 at l£d per lb. We quote prime mutto", merino If d per lb ; half-bred, 2:1. Store Sheep — Thsre .are still numerous buyers for this description of stock. We sold 15Q0 fullmouthed ewes at 3s each. We quote half-bred wethers 5s 6d to 6s ; ditto mixod lambs, 4 3 6d to 5s ; merino wethers, 4, 6, and 8-tooth, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; do ewes, 4 and 6 tooth, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; do, do, full mouthed, 2s 9d to 3s ; mixed lambs, 6a 6d to 7s per pair. Country Sales — We held a sale at MY J"ams3 Stevenson's fatal, Riversid' > West Taieri, on the 22nd instant. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the bidding for all classes of stock was good. Sixty head dairy cows brought L 4 to LlO each ; fat cattle from 15s to 17s 6i per 100 lb ; yearlings from 25s to 37s 6d each ; draught mares, L3B to L 39 ; do. yearlings, Ll6 to L2B ; do. foals, Ll3 to Ll6 Ws ; fat wethers 83 each ; farming implements and dairy plant at satisfactory rates. Horses — Our market continues over supplied with inferior stock. We sold a shipmont ex Wanganui, from Wellington, consisting of tnedi mi co-ten horses, at from L 6 to Ll6 each, and ffered a large number of racing stock, but the only one that found a purchaser was Mr Wobb's 2-year old filly " Swindle," whinh was knocked down to Mi' George Ooombe, at LllO. We quote first-cl.iss draughts, L4O to L 45 ; middling do, L 22 to L3O ; first-class saddle and light harness horses, Lls to L2O ; middling do, LlO to Ll4 ; inferior, L 4 to L 7. Grain — Wheat — Good samples of new com* mand from 4s to 4s 3d per bushel, at which rate the millers are being supplied. Oats are saleable at 2s 3d for feed, and 2s 5d to 2s 6d for milling simplee. Barley — The crop is very Fuperior hi color and quality this season. Really good maltins «amplos would fetch from 3s to 3s 6d per bushel. Messrs Dbitetj, Stewabt and Co., report for the week ending 27th March : — Weekly Market— About 1100 prime fat wethers and 45 head cattle were yarrled, which we sold — wethers at 7s to 7s 6d each, or equal to l£d per lb. Cattle — rwhich were chiefly of inferior quality at L 5 to L 6 10s per head. We quote really prime beef at 18s 6d" per 100 lbs, with a tendency— to advance. Store Sheep-*— All descriptions, with the except tion of old ewes, are in fair demand, but no transactions of any magnitude have transpired. We • quote cross-bred wethers, 2 and 4 tooth, at Si '6dj merino wether, 4, 6 and -8 tooth, -at 4s 6dj do, 2 tooth, at 4s; mixed lambs at 7s per pair. Flax — In the local market there is but very little doing, the quantity coming forward being very limited. The prospects in the homo market are, however, somewhat lighten and we look for a largely increased demand for the finer qualities, for which the London Brokers' latest . quotations are L3O to L 35 per ton. - (Note.— ln our lasPissue fat cattle wera'quotcd by mistake, at lls 6d instead of 183 6d.)-
