(To the Editor of the Bruce Herald.) Sir,- - In your last issue appeared a letter signed "Taieri Beach,'' enumerating many things that our member, Mr A. Mollison, had done in Provincial Council. My reason for writing this is that lie forgot the richest and the most marvellous part, which was in taxing the foot passengers crossing the East Taieri Bridge twopence more than the Go 1 vernment ever wanted. The store and jetty at the Taieri Mouth being such a benefit to the settlers how is it that no jetty-keeper had been appointed to make it reproductive ? The weekly market established, of which wd heard so much, would surely help to do so. Was " Taieri Beach " present at Mr John CargilFfl meeting in the school-house, at the Beach, when the settlers asked him to get money on this Estimates to make a road from Waihola to Taieri Beach ? He promised to bring it before the Superintendent and get it on the Estimates, which be did. Mr Mollison found it easier, I daresay, to get his way to the public purse than to his own "stocking/ as perhaps the Treasurer to Local Boards could testify. At the nomination, an old opponent — Mr" W. 3. Dyer-Miame to the field with a strong requisition to stand as a candidate. Alex. Mollison had got a requisition two years ago to resign, and if he had now the pluck of a mouas he would not come forward where he is not really wanted, except by a tew pet lambs-. Your readers on Wednesday will ascertain the state of the polL It is to be regretted that Mr Mollison has shown cleat proof of narrow-mindedness and obtrusion at the Gorge school-house. Sir, allow mo to suggest t6 " Taieri Beach" not to throw any more stones, as there is a large window behind him, showing Mr Mollison dictating to the writer with figures ho\t and what to write. I am, &c.j Akatore.
