LAWRENCE.
, (From our own correspondent.) 1 ..... (Unavoidably, held over fron^our last.)... Our annual ra«ej| came off on Thursday and Friday last,' and. as the weather was fine and the races good everyone seemed to be amply satisfied.' Every spur,' gully, and flat sent its quota to enla.ge the crowd. Ladies and children were to be seen in abundance, and their appearance added largely to the pleasantness of the scene. Throughout the races were well contested, and the course being in good condition no serious accident occurred. One youngster was pitched off his horse and fractured his collar bone, and another came to grief, his horse falling with him, but ere any ordinary man could gather his sensed man and horse were up, mounted, and away. Surely these little men are made of more elastic material than ordinary mortals. The refreshment booth seemed to have been well patronised, and so was the grand stand. On the whole, matters went off to the greatest satisfaction, and it will be long remembered. There were a few private races on Saturday to wind up the week's sport. Fikst Day.
