The market has remained very .quiet sines the close of last sales, aiid the purchases made have been of the most limited character. ; a few descriptions, mostly wanted for •immediate consumption, have sold at a profit, but beyond hand to mouth requirements there is no inquiry. The arrivals are already very large for the next series, which are expected, to commence, on the 11th of May, consisting of 14,035 bales, Sydney ; 41,959 bales, Port Philip ; 2725 bales, Van Dieman's Land; 1(5,182 bale 3, - Adelaide ; 997 ' bales, Swan River ; 8458 bales, New Zealand ; 14,548 bales, Cape ; total, 96,952 bales. It is expected that fully 45,000 bales "more will arrive in time, if so we., shall hav.e a very large and important sale, the total ' may be estimated at 140,000 bales. The trade at most of the Northern markets, is not very good, -and, although at Leeds and Huddersneid there is a fair business, it is riot eqiialto expectations, while at Bradford ■ ; the 'market is very quiet and combing avools. depressed. .
