SO IS IT YET.
There are 'some good verses on "Diana of the Ephes-ians," by Alfred Cochrane, in the Spectator. After describing how the crowd defended Diana's name on a great occasion when creed and trades' were threatened, he goes on:
'""So is it yet, when the old things
pass, As the sands run down, -run down in
the glass, Still in the forefront, still with us, Are the zealots from Ephesus, The men who 'would check Advancement's pace By a series of shouts in the marketplace, " The men who stand on the ancient
w ays, Loudly singing Diana's praise
"Your iron steeds through the cutting scream, But where is the .Highflier's famous team ? in an, idle column the hansoms stand, While your taxi whizzes you down the Strand ; And everywhere, always, by the wav Lies the wisdom of yesterday, The craftsmen who labored and lived in state 3 In days when Diana was reckoned great."
