WILLIAMS & KETTLE, LTD

Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale in tilie Woodvi'l'lo yar-clis i on the Bth inst., when they offered a fair yarding of cattle and 1 a. small yarding of sheep to the usual attendance of the public. They quote as follows: —Eighteen to 20-nionnh steers £3 ss, 18 to 20-month heifers £3 2s 6d, Jersey bulls £3 19s 6d, weaners (mixed) 255, 30s, aged ewes 10s, wether lambs (shorn) 7s 6d. At the usual monthly sale at Makotuku they offered a medium yarding of cattle to the usual 'attendance of the public. Quotations: Fifteen to 20-moirfch steers £2 15s, -cows m calif £3 j-us, forward cows £3 _6s, Ayrshire hulls £3, fat cows £4 15s. H.B. FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION, LTD. The H.B. Farmers' Co-operative Association report on the iabove sale as follows:—We offered only a small yarding of sheep and 1 cattle, which met a very ready sale. We quote: Two and 4-t-oot(h ewes 12s 6d, old store ewes (poor) 7s 3d, fat cows £5 Is to £4 15s, 15-month empty heifers £3, weaners 30s to 245. At Garfield on Thursday wo held a clearing salo on .account of Mr C. A. Jensen. Everything went very well, and the sale was quite a successful one. Dairy cows from £8 15s" to £5 15s, heifers in calf £5 5s and £5, 18imionth heifers in calf £4 17s, £4 10s to £3 ss, 1 Holstein heifer 3-month-old £5 2a 6d. All odds and ends nuade very good prices.-

Loan and Mercantile Agenc-v Co., Ltd., report: At Makotuku on Wednesday we liad a.,medium entry of both sheep and cattle, all of which met with excellent competition, a total clearance bonis; effected. Quotations: Two, 4 and 6tootli wethers 13s, 4 and 6-tooth cull wethers 10s Bd, forward ewes lis 7d, f<'(.• ewes 14s 7d, fat heifers £4 4s, fat bullocks (small) £6 6s, store cows £3 ss, dairy com from £3 5s to £6 2s 6d. Competition, was keen right throughout and iprices realised ranged from £4 to £l9, the whole herd of 33 cows, including two 3-teaters, averaging £7 9d per head, which, considering the- time of year, must be considered higMy satisfactory. . Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Dannevirke, report of their week's sale as follows: On Monday, January 8, we held our usual fortnightly Woodville sale, when our entry )vas comprised mainly of cattlle. We quote empty heifers £3 12s to £3 18s, 2-year steers £3 16s to £4 6s, mixecj \yeaners 27s 6d. On Monday mo held a clearing sale at Xorsewo-od on account of Mr D. Dabi, when we offered his herd of 17 dairy cows which sold from £2 2s 6d to £7 2s 6d aiid averaged £4 17s 6d, Jersey bull £5 12s 6d, mixed weaners 335, cans 3s Gd to os, sundries at satisfactory prices. On Wednesday 10, we hekl our-Ma-kotuku sale and also a clearing sale on account of Mr .1. S. Nelson, Papatawa. Our offering at Makotuku was mostly cattle and prices, realised werels-month steers £2 5s to £3 3s 6d, 15-inonth heifers £2 lis 6d, to £3 13s 6d, mixed weaners 30s, bull £3 5s and fat cows £3 12s 6d to £5. On account of Mr J. S. Nelson, we offered sheep, catle, horses, and a quantity of sundries. Prices realised were lambs 10s 7d, ewes lis, hack £5 Ids, cows in milk £6 6s, store cows £3 Is, fat cows £5 ss, empty heifers £3 10s to £5 2s 6d, 18-month steers £3 16s, fat bullocks £7 7s, totara posts lOd each, totara stainers 3s each and sundries at satisfactory prices. On account of other vendors, cow and calf £3 /*s, heifers £2 17s 6d to £3 Is.
