It remained, however, for a New Zealand doctor to throw some light on the effect in one direction, at least, of a complaint that at one time seemed almost epidemic. A nervous patient , seeking to find a reason for his pains, asked his medical adviser whether he thought motoring caused appendicitis. The doctor scouted the idea.
