A FIGHT FOR RESTORATION.
[PHESS ASSOCIATION.] WAIHI. December 5. A meeting of supporters of the local restoration movement was held last night. It was also attended In- a largo number of No-License advocates, the building being packed. The meeting Has addressed by Mr Moresby, solicitor to the Organised Jlestoration .League m the close of the meeting a motion in favor of [No-Li-cense was moved by a No-License leader, and declared lost. At tlii.s stage the No-License, portion of the audience retired, and the following motion was then put and carried unanimously : "That this meeting endorses the Mayor's statement that "Wailri received neither moral nor material benefit under No-License, also that it believes the effect of No-License has been pernicious to the welfare of the district, and tends to lower the morals of the district hy the encouragement of de-j ceit and lying." Mr Jordan (No-License agent) attempted several times to address street audiences after the meeting had closed. He was bustled off his stand several times, but eventually he got a hearing.
