DEPUTATIONS.
[press association.] WELLINGTON, This Day. A deputation from the Tai-atalii-Carterton Racing Club waited on Hon. Mr Buddo to-day to protest against the reduction oi* its permitin the Racing Commission's report, from two days to one. ' The Minister replied that he had to carry out the recommendations in so far as they conformed with the Act, and he could not give the deputation much comfort, so far as the permits for this coming year were concerned. As to whether the recommendations of the commission were in accordance with the law, he would be able to say on the advice of the law authorities in two or three days. _ A deputation representing the FireBrigades' Association waited on Mr Buddo to-day and placed before him the resolutions passed by the repent conference. Replying, the Minister approved the suggestion that Government should issue a set of model building regulations to Avhich the municipalities should "tune" their bylaws. The. proposal would be considered in connection with any townplanning. A' Hill would Ire introduced, and he did not think there was any need for revoking the reqifoment that one-third of the ratepayers should record their votes before any poll (on the proposal to establish a board) could be valid. He promised to convey to the Minister for Education the suggestion that charts should be placed in schools and instruction given in simple elementary rules dealing with outbreaks of lire.
