Tpress association.] WANGANUI, January 23. The AVanganui Caledonian Society held its 28th annual sports meeting to-day in glorious weather. Tho sports were a great success, the attendance being a record. There was also a record attendance of pipers and dancers. The pedestrian events were very interesting. Opie put up a New Zealand amateur record of 12 sees for 120 yards. Two heats of this event were run in 11 3-osecs, but doubt is expressed as to the reliability of the time. The chief prize-winners in piping, and dancing were:—Marches, F. Finlayson ; Strathspeys and Reels, J . Cameron; Highland Fling, J. M'Kechnie; Sword Dance, R. M'Keehnie; Reel o' Tulloch, A. Kilgour; Seaun Truibbas, Jaffray. The wrestling events were won by Alex. Bain. 5*5%
