"OUT OF IT."
What will the world be like when I have left it ? When those who love me miss me; and a stranger Steps in and closes np the broken line, And my successor mends or mars my work ? 'Twill be, I think as when a band ■ of children Go, singing in the charge of harassed elders, In crowded brakes upon a glorious morning From the drab streets into the golden country, Leaving one sick; who hears, with bitter sorrow, The singing and the crashing of the wheels, And crack of whips, and then the hollow silence ; Who in his sick bed, through the long, long day, Dreams of his brothers' joys and mad adventures; And multiplies their glee one thousandfold And sees their whole day in a mist of glory— A day of days—because lie's left behind. —Arnold Wall.
