Mr J. F. Fisher ,of Wimbledon was a visitor to town to-dav.
Mr F. W. Smith, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned on Saturday evening.
Mr and Mrs W. Rose intend leaving for a trip to Auckland and Rotorua oil Thursday. There is a possibility that the .Governor's final official visit to Dunedin will be deferred to the end of May.
To avoid fuss Lord Kitchener and staff bookQfl their passages for the Islands on the Mokoia as "Mr and Mrs Herbert Sellars." Mr and Mrs Paviour-Smith left Sydney for New Zealand on Saturday last. They are expected to arrive at Dannevirke on Thursday next. Mrs (Dr) V eitcli, of Norsewood, and Miss Allen, of Ormondville, left for Napier this morning, where they will be the guests of Mrs W. Kinross White.
Up to the present there are two candidates in the field for the vacancy on the H.B. Education Board, caused by the resignation of Sir William Russell, namely, Messrs G. F. Roach and G. S. Clapliam.
The death is announced of Mr D. L. Luxford, of the Agricultural Department, which occurred at Napier on Friday. The deceased, who was a son of the late Mr William Luxford, of Wellington, and a brother of Mrs llobb, of Iviritaki, was for some time engaged in journalism in Wellington and Nelson.
