Press Assn —By telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 11. The steamer Cornwall, when berthing at Newcastle, bumped a big hole in the wharf and displaced a portion ■of the railway line. Several of the steamer's plates were damaged. At Lismore ex-Constables Bartlett and Toohey were sentenced to four and three years' hard labor respectively for stealing three scarf pins from the room of a local doctor after his death.

The judge severely censured the prisoners for attempting to implicate an innocent man.
