It will probably be in favor of the bowlers, as the Australians, on winning the toss, sent New Zealand to the wickets. The New Zealand team is as already selected, while the Australians omitted Dodds and Facy. Lusk and Siedeberg opened, Whitty and Armstrong bowling. Play was very slow. At 13 Siedeberg got leg in front of Whitty. 13-I—2. Midlane followed, but with one run added, was bowled by Armstrong. 14 —2—o. Haddon tilled the vacancy, but at 17 tamely hit Whitty to Simpson at mil-off. 17—3—1. Reese next hit Whitty to leg for four on the first ball. Scores:— Lusk, not out ... 10 Siedeberg, 1.b.w., b Whitty ... 2 Midlane, c Armstrong ... ... 0 Hadden, c Simpson, b Whitty ... 1 Reese, not out ... ... ... 8 Extras ... ... ... ... 6 Total for three wickets ... 27 Lusk and Reese took the score to 46, when the former was caught for 22, and Reese was bowled by Whitty immediately after for 20. An hour's play produced' 52 .runs. The wickets continued to fall fast, Sims alone maintaining a good defence, and at lunch seven had fallen for 93—Sims (not out) 28. The following players will represent the Dannevirke Cricket Club against High School to-morrow on the Recreation Ground, play to start at 2 p.m. sharp :—Hansard, Robson, Simpson, Nash, Griffin, A'Bear, Congdon, Inglis, Tliorstensen, Speedy, Edwards and Fitzherbert.
