SUPERANNUATION.

[press association.] WELLINGTON, January 20. Important business was dealt with by the Public Service Superannuation Board at its meeting for the current quarter. Among the matters dealt with by the board were a number of applications to count previous service where breaks in such service had occurred, and some applications to become contributors from those who had previously neglected to join. The amalgamation of the Police Provident Fund with the Public Service Superannuation Fund were discussed. The secretary was instructed to take all necessary steps, especially as regarded the election of a member of the board to represent the police fund. Schedules of retiring allowances and refunds made to those leaving the service were presented to the board and approved as follows: Under section 35 (age), 7 allowances, amounting to £627 18s 4d per annum; ,under section 42 (death), to 4 widows and three children, totalling £lll per annum, and 2 refunds of contributions to legal representatives, amounting to £3O lis 3d; under section 32 (f) (balance of compensation and contributions to widow of pensioner), £339 Is 9d; and under section 41 (refunds of contributions on leaving the service), 105, amounting to £986 15s 3d.
