ROUND THE WORLD IN A TUB.

On a chill November Sunday afternoon strollers in Piccadilly were astonished at the sight of a man in a chauffeur's coat and khaki puttees sitting inside a huge tub, while another man, similarly clad, rolled him along. The men were not named Diogenes, but Artilius and Eugene. They are Italians, and are rolling round the world in their tub. The quaint expedition (the Daily Mail reports) started from the Palace Theatre, and, turning into Shaftes-bury-avenue, at once became a source of perplexity to omnibus drivers and cabmen, who were puzzled whether to take the enormous tub seriously and pull aside for it, or to drive straight on and trust to it getting out of the way. Piccadilly Circus took much negotiating. Horses wee very shy of the intruder, which steered so uneven a course, and rolled at sti'h varying speeds that they scarcely knew what to make of it. When the dip in Piccadilly was reached the tub broke away, and refused to be held in, but when the road began to ascend the man inside was compelled to get out and help to push. The first conflict with the police occurred when the tub-pushers tried to enter Hyde Park. It was a novel point for the policeman on duty to decide, but he solved the difficulty by stopping the tub and buying a picture postcard from the owners. The crowd also bought postcards, and the modern Diogenes and his companion continued their way down Knightsbridge.
