BOUTTELL'S PICTURES.

Some fine films will be shown at the Drill Hall to-night. The southern papers state that for distinctness and tone Bouttell's pictures are especially good, and an audience could not be treated to a better display. The price of admission is fixed at one shilling. The Hutt and Petone Chronicle has tlie following complimentary reference to the pictures :—-The programme of new pictures presented bv Mr Bouttell at the Oddfellows' Hall last evening was greatly enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience. The films covered a wide range of subjects—history, romance, pathos, and humor being well catered for. Amongst the many "Colombo and its Environs" (a film tinted in natural colors) was very lifelike. "The Race for the Farmers' Cap"—a drama" of great interest to lovers of the turf—was eagerly watched and ended in a tornado of applause. Humorous sketches were well provided for in "William's Suicide," "Foolshead, King of Robbers," "A Night Alarm," and "on the Brain," each individual item causing no end of laughter. The best pictures of the evening were undoubtedly those of "La Tosca," depicting a very fine piece of acting by artists from the Comedie Francaise, Paris. "Bleriot's Channel Flight" was almost as good as the real thing, every detail of the trip being plainly shown the audience. "Captured by Boy Scouts" (a drama stury), "Russian Cavalry," "A Gale at Biarritz," were amongst the many others on a really good programme.
