The stock of New Zealand mutton on hand is moderate. Canterbury mutton averages 4 J ,d, North Island 3|d, Australian, large supply, 3ifd. River Plate 3£d. The lamb market is quiet. Australian lamb, large supply, average price old season's New eZaland lamb, other than Canterbury, 3-£ d. Canterbury, new season, averages 4d. There is a better demand for beef, but with no change in prices of last quotations. N.Z. hinds 3Jd, fores 25 d. The butter market is firm, with a good demand. Average price choicest New Zealand butter 112s. The cheese market ds firm, with a general active demand. Finest New Zealand white cheese averages 57s per cwt ; colored 565. The hemp market is dull, and buyers are cautious. Prices for .New Zealand good fair on spot £27 15s per ton; fair, £26 15s; Manila fair current, £26 10s; January-March shipment, good fair, £27 ; fair, £26 ; Manila, £25 10s. The output of Manila for the week was 22,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet, but holders are firm at last quotations. N.Z. 171bs per bushel seed, 755. The wheat market is firm at last week's quotations. N.Z. short-berry 395, long-berry 39s 6d. The oat market is firm, but the supply meets the demand. The price of N.Z. short oats, sparrowbills, on spot, ex granarv, 19s 3d per 3841b5. N.Z. Danish oats 18s per 320ibs. The bean market remains firm at 40s 6d for New Zealand f.s.q., old crop. The pea market is firm, but business is dull on account of high prices. New Zealand partridge peas are quoted at 56s per 5041b5. The wool market is firm, with more enquiry. The market is affected by a general improvement in the trade which is advancing owing to a strong demand. Hops remain firm, with a general and active demand.
