COMMERCIAL.
Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pongaroa sale of the 14th inst. as follows :—We submitted a very heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle in the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., yards to an exceptionally large attendance of farmers. The yarding comprised 2000 sheep and close on 200 head of cattle. We experienced strong competition for all classes of stock, especially for 2-tooth ewes and wethers and young steers, everything changing hands excepting some aged ewes. We quote :- Two-tooth wethers 10s Id, 10s 6d, 10s 7d and 10s 8d ; 2-tooth ewes 14s, and 14s Id; good mixed shorn lambs os lid ; shorn ewe lambs 6s; wetherlambs 4s 2d ; small woolly lambs ss. Forward bullocks £5 17s 6d; 2£ and 3-year steers £4 16s to £5 Is; 18month and 2-year steers £3 12s, £3 15s to £4 1 s ; weaner steers 35s 6d; fat cows £3 12s to £4 12s 6d ; store cows £2 to £3 2s; cows and calves £3 9s to £3 13s; Jersey cross heifers in calf £3 12s 6d; woancr heifers 23s 6d; bulls £2 to £2 15s.
