Tug-of-war, eight men a-side; Ist 120s, .2nd 40s; entry Bs. RULES AND REGULATIONS. All events (except cycling) will be conducted under the Rules of the New Zealand Athletic Union. Bicycle events will be governed by the Rules of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen. Nominations with proper fees for events number 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 23, 24, 25, with last two years' performances, or if none druing that period, the last twelve of any, must be in the hands of the Secretary not later than Monday, January 24, 1910. Handicaps declared in the Napier Daily Telegraph, Dannevirke Advocate, and Evening News on or about Tuesday, February 1. Acceptances close on the ground. All other entries made on the ground at least 20 minutes before the event to be contested. Assumed names not allowed. The handicappers reserve the right to re-handicap ±he winner of any event after the handicaps are declared. . . Protests must be put in writing, and handed to the Secretary within 15 minutes after disputed event, accompanied with a fee of ten shillings, which will be forfeited should the protest be deemed frivolous. On no account will an attendant be allowed to accompany or wait upon a competitor inside the ring. No competitor will be allowed inside the ring except during the time of the event in which lie is competing. No competitor will be allowed to compete in any event until liis entrance fees are paid. When an event is contested m more than two preliminary heats the first and second shall run in the final. If an event is contested in two preliminary heats, the first, second, and third shall run in the final. In all events, Irish Jig excepted, competitors must appear in proper costume, viz., running events, clothing from shoulders to the knees, that is jersey (sleeved to elbow) and loose drawers or trunks. Bagpipes and Scotch dancing in kilts, Sailor's Hornpipe in generally acknowledged costume. Costume in the Jrish Jig is optional to the competitor. The prizes offered at this meeting will be awarded subject to the statements of previous performances-sent in with nomination being strictly accurate. NAPIER PIPE BAND will play selections during the day ADMISSION : Adults Is ; Children under 12 vears 6d; Horsemen 2s; Vehicle and driver 2s 6d, each occupant Is; Grandstand Is; Member s Card admits member and family under 12 years to ground and giandstand.
