THE SALVATION ARMY.
The local corps' band held a musical meeting last evening, wliicli was fairly well attended. The programme was a very interesting one, and was appreciated by all present. The following items were rendered : —Company song. "Rock of Ages," songster brigade; solo, selected, Bro. Horsfield; recitation, "Uncle Mose," Miss Eva Simms; whistle duet, Mr A. Pearse; band selection, S.A. Band; concertina solo, Adjutant Scotney; antliem, songster brigade; solo (banjo accompaniment), Staff-Capt. Simms; male quartet, Scotney brothers; selection, "Lead kindly light," band. The proceeds of the meeting were to- enable the band to purchase band journals. Bandmaster A. Scotney wielded the baton last niglit for the first time as local bandmaster, and did well. A new euphonium arrived this week from the trade department, C'hristclnircli, and will be an acquisition to the band.
