As the usual 8,25 train was passing the second crossing at Ra-whiti street, near Mi; Rose's residence; on Saturday evening, the driver felt a decided bump. The man was conveyed to the hospital, where it ' was found Tie had sustained a broken rib, several nasty cuts about the head, besides being badly, bruised. - The horse also had, a miracoulus. escape, as it only received a "few cuts and wounds on the ribs. It appears that the injured man, who works in the Pin Phi block, was in the" habit of riding home on Saturday evenings, and it is conjectured that he either did not see the train approaching, or that the horse bolted.
