H'B- HOGGS ACTION COM-
MENDED.
[PRiS.s ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, last night. Mr A. W. Hogg addressed a crowded meeting in the Town Hall to-night in es3p« nation of his retirement from the Ministry. He explained his views against land monopoly and in favour of State scurrency. He said that hi spite of existing legislation land settlement was- not proceeding satipf.'i.etorily, there being instead aggregation and retrogression. He had detached himself from Cabinet becaus#> his views did not eonincide with his colleagues on some vital questions. One was, suppression of lane? monopoly, against which he would battle so long as he had -life.' Not a- single syllable of his speech would lie retract. (Loud applause.) lief erring to the retrenchment.; sehe-n"i<> he said there was no need to i cut down recklessly young branches doing good work. He had no grievance and never had an unpleasant word with any Minister. He trusted they would organise and form, if necessary,. a Land and Labour League — a League which would gather in strength everywhere and have /branches in every part of the dominion. The workers had the": ball at their feet if they liked, to kick it. They had been dormant too long. A resolution of thanks and commending Mr Hogg's action, "was carried unauimousjy. Mr Hogg had an attentive and appreciative hearing throughout.
