KEROSENE FOR WASHING CLOTHES
Dirty cloths of ail sorts may be rimdored clean, ■sweet, :uid .soft by the following process: — Put on the stove a vessel, free from grease, with plenty of soft water; when it hails, put in the cloths, giving them room for the water to circulate freely through them; add first, 'but not until the water boils up well, one- tablespoonful of kerosene to every gallon of water. Boil for half an hour. Take the cloths -up with a stick and rinse them in plenty of clean water, first warm, then cold, and dry in the open air. It is best to separate the articles,, the greasy from the non-greasy, and give each, a separate boiling. An occasional wasli of this description would save many pence, for when the various articles are too worn for hard labour there will, be life enough in them -for other purposes too wellrknown to need description. ' It may be added that if all would, adopt the single precaution of taking the first coating of grease . from knives and other utensils with paper, subsequent labour in washing up would be . saved, and the wear.'and tear of towels and dishcloths greatly prolonged. j
