Mr Douglas Young, British ViceConsul, in his annual report on German Bast Africa, presents a terrible picture of the Herero rebellion. From 1905' fill 1907 it is estimated that 120,000 native men, women, and children perished, 75,000 victims of ' war and pestilence dying in the famine year ending March, 1907, alone. He adds:^-"The remembrance of the fate, of their fellow tribesmen is likely to restrain the present generation from renewing hostilities with the projecting power."'
