CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.
- [PBEBS AaSOOIATION.V TIMARU, last night. A civil suit- began in the Supreme ■ Court to-day, G. Selbie suing J. C. l Shaw-arid J. A. Manchester separate- . ly and jointly for £1000 damages for : the loss of a daughter, aged 28, killed - by a street accident at the last Timl aa-u Show.. Thr.ee solicitors appear for the plaintiff and two for each of . the defendant parties. Mr.Soloman K.C., is leading for Selbie, Mr Stringer, ICC, for Shaw, and Mr Raymond for Manchester. Briefly, the circumstances for the plaintiff were that Selbie and his daughter were j drifting slowly out of town' in . the middle of the road when young Shaw, driving a fast trotting stal- • lion, came down the steep grade nieeti dng them at a fast pace. The trotter 3 swerved and brought the vehicles into , vcollision, interlocking the wheels. -" Both the Selbies were thrown out, I and as Miss Selbie was getting up V Manchester's car came along and i knocked her down, and she died from her. injuries next day. Plaintiff 2, claims l that" Shaw was negligent in - driving too- fast and Manchester in r not pulling up as he had plenty of time to see the accident had happeni cd."
